Jennifer Krohn

From the poem, “Cain Cries Out”:

“…Then fire consumed
the dead, but left
the fruit to rot and flies.

Must I sacrifice
what little I love? The smell
of soil as I dig, the shade
of the fruit trees, the moment
the green tendrils climb
out of the ground—…”
