ABQ Poetry Series

There are lots of reading opportunities in town.  Here are some of the regular readings…

The Adobe Walls Open Mictakes place on the 2nd Tuesday of the month starting AUG 2011 • 7pm to 9pm (sign up starts at 6:45) at Page One Books (11018 Montgomery NE, ABQ – SW corner of Juan Tabo and Montgomery. Publication in Adobe Walls is NOT a requirement to participate.

Speak Poet: Voz, Palabra y Sonido is a monthly open mic with featured poet readings and an open mic. Host Andrea Serranosays that, “The open mic portion is also a challenge – a call to poets to rise above our desire to “introduce” or “explain” our poetry and just let the poem be what it is going to be. Let your words speak for themselves. Sunday Chatter, formerly Church of Beethoven is a one-hour program of ensemble music and poetry that begins promptly at 10:30 am Sunday mornings each week. Not church, more than Beethoven. Location is the Kosmos 1715 Fifth Street NW. Poets are booked 4-6 months out by invitation. Don McIver is currently programming the poetry as continued outreach by Local Poets Guild. Duke City Dime Stories (3 minute prose) is an ongoing open mic that takes place every third Thursday from 7-9 at at The Source, 1111 Carlisle Blvd. SE. They also do audio archiving and select “Best of” and offer featured showcases.

Duende Poetry Series takes place four Sundays a year (not in winter) at the Anasazi Fields Winery in Placitas.

East of Edith is a Monday open mic sponsored by Local Poets Guild. It’s a 2-poem/4 minute limit open mic that takes place every Monday night during warm seasons at 7:00 pm at The Projects, 3614 High Street NE.

Fixed and Free is hosted by Billy Brown and has a feature and an open mic. It takes place the 4th Thursday of every month at the Source, a yoga studio at 1111 Carlisle Blvd. Se 87108

WORDSPACE is the literary feature that happens seasonally at the Outpost Performance Space.
