Surrender to Saturday April 14th Mayhem
Poets know that Poetry Month gets kuckoo and we love the insanity, that wild blend of holy wow and yep and yet another event, really?!? I’ve “lived through” quite a few poetry months in Albuquerque, those spectacular seasons of officially sanctioned bliss—and yet, I’ve never seen a day programmed quite like next Saturday. I can say that even though I have particpated in a 10 hour readings of Isaac Bashevis Singer short stories at the former Nob Hill Books and 24 and 48 hour open mics at OutCh’Yonda. Still, next Saturday April 14th will go down in history for sure…
Let me attempt to give you Saturday’s low-down:

7 p.m. The Guild Cinema’s Barton Fink – This darkly comic film from Ethan and Joel Coen gleefully attacks the Hollywood system and all those who seek to sell out to it. To be introduced by local writer and television host Gene Grant!
Did I miss anything?
(And don’t forget that two days before this wild Saturday, on Thursday April 12th, there is the Smokin Slam at The Smokehouse BBQ, 528 & Barabra Loop which is hosted by Katrina Guarascio on the west side with feature Hakim Bellamy and that same night is Speak Poet at 7 pm with host Andrea Serrano and features Michelle Otero and Yasmeen Najmi at El Chante: Casa de Cultura 804 Park Ave SW. And the 15th Sunday has a stellar poetics talk with Diane Thiel and Tony Mares at 3 pm at the projects.)
See ya around and around and around…
