The Local Poets Guild’s mission is to advocate for poetry, develop audience, engage poets and foster the creative process, from conception and craft to publication and performance.
We are in the process of becoming a nonprofit. Board Members include Lisa Gill, Susan McAllister, Hakim Bellamy, and Carol Boss.
The Local Poets Guild offers programs including a rural writers residency, craft talks and workshops, featured readings, showcases, publication of books and cds, writing to heal and writing nonviolence workshops, plus an online information hub, all completely community driven and requiring the best efforts of the poets involved.
This blog is the information hub for the Local Poets Guild and is intended to be a resource for both poets and venues alike, a matchmaking hub, if you will. You can research NM poets, venues, publications, presses, and reading series… We’ll try to make it as easy to use as possible and trying to keep up with the information.
